Our Client is a world leading agricultural commodities producer, processor and trading house. They are one of the major players in the trading world. They provide innovative solutions to customers across major market segments; including agriculture and food and energy and natural resources. Some of their major businesses include the trading and distribution of agricultural commodities, manufacturing and sale of livestock and feed, trading in energy, steel and transport, and the production of food ingredients. They also provide risk management and financial solutions to both their customers and their own businesses.
PRODUCTION MANAGER – SONGYUAN, CHINA
The role is responsible for managing the overall production operation at our client’s Songyuan plant. The Production Manager will work in the day shift and will manage and co-ordinate all the Workshop Managers, Shift Supervisors and Engineers.
The responsibilities are as follows:
20% - Managing Production Operations: Organizes, plans, leads and controls the workshop process on a daily basis in term of safety, food safety, product quality, customer satisfaction, time delivery, costs and environment; develops and /or reviews procedures for updates and improvements; participates in daily production meetings; plans and monitors shutdowns; participates in refinery contractor selection and monitoring; utilizes management of change process. Prepares Monthly Reports, EHS reports, Food Safety Reports, Investigates Accidents/ Incidents, Updates procedures on a timely basis. Proposes and monitors annual budget for department as well as balanced scorecard and performance goals; shares results with his team.
30% - Food Safety, Environmental, Health and Safety: Executes and champions food safety, environment, health and safety procedures in plant operations. Oversees and ensures workshop managers and shift supervisors are holding others accountable for the compliance with the facility's EHS plans (includes proper employees training, workplace inspections, topical meetings, maintaining compliance to operational safety/environmental procedures, critical safety devices integrity and timely reporting requirements). Recommends revisions to operating polices as applicable. Manages risk/loss potential to personnel, equipment, and plant operations (production). Ensures all regulations (Company and country) are followed and reporting is accurate and timely. Participates in safety and environmental audits. Trains the subordinates to follow the safety systems. Is a role model for safety behaviors. Walks the talk on Food Safety / EHS issues. Participates constructively in EHS meetings.
15% - Process and products Quality: Ensures accountability is built-in into the operations, each team member knows what is expected to do and has all the tools and resources to execute the responsibilities. Works with the channels/ cross functional teams to ensure that all work is done in accordance to specifications and standards, and that management of change procedures are followed and recorded. Monitors standards and goals. Coordinates shutdown planning and procedures. Creates, leads, and controls a work environment that utilizes the quality management system. Helps to train the workshop managers on troubleshooting for process quality problems, partners with QA/QC Department to set internal specifications.
10% - Capital Projects/Project Management: Proposes and executes project relating to safety, quality, yield, and efficiency improvement. Executes capital projects. Monitors project and complete appropriate documentation and follow up. Oversees other smaller projects using appropriate project management tools. Trains the subordinates on managing projects. Is responsible for raising / executing/ closing job requests.
5% - Employee Engagement: Demonstrates positive two-way communications, fair and consistent administration of company policy and procedures, responsiveness to employee concerns and problems. Maintains employee morale, productive workforce, and Business Unit/Company expectations. Gives regular feedback and follows performance management process guidelines for ratings and compensation and the one-up process. Coaches and counsels each employee for job and career direction, including using performance improvement plans for employees receiving a Meets Some and Below rating and development plans for all employees. Participates in the selection of workshop managers and shift supervisors. Plans for future needs; works to fill vacancies. . Trains the workshop leaders to take on the production managers’ role by sharing responsibility and ideas. Participates in the development of young engineers so that they can groom to become effective shift supervisor. Prepares and champions the career development plan process Prepares career development plans for the shift supervisors and workshop managers. Trains young engineers on technical and behavior issues. Is a coach and mentor for the young engineers.
5% - Financial: Tracks expenditures in each area, makes adjustments to control costs as needed, and communicates progress to others. Ensures Company’s financial systems are implemented and followed.
5% - Administrative: Assures required functions are performed in a timely and accurate manner and according to policies and procedures. Monitors purchasing at location including looking at preferred vendors. Coordinates interface with logistics. Coordinates product schedule between production and commercial.
5% - Community Relations: Identifies priorities in the community based on the business plan. Participates in community relations activities and encourages others to serve the community where the facility is located.
5% - Innovation: Promotes idea generation. Encourages knowledge sharing. Utilizes Centers Of Excellence (COEs) to avoid re-inventing the wheel. Provides environment where employees feel comfortable in offering ideas and suggestions. Contributes to the various COEs to share learning. Promotes the spirit of innovation in the refinery operation. Networks well with other refinery managers in the Company to keep updated with the innovations taking place in the business.
· Science or Engineering degree， at least 10-15years working experiences in production management,
· Plus a minimum of 5-7 years industrial experience in a fine chemical/food related chemical refinery as a production/plant manager or proven capability to work on this level.
· Technical Learning: Picks up on technical aspects quickly; can learn new skills and knowledge; is good at learning new industry, company, product, or technical knowledge.
· Computer Technology: Demonstrates use of basic PC software programs; explores how to effectively utilize and implement plant software; uses the internet to research changes. Ensures systems are integrated and process controls are monitored by the operator and supervision.
