They are seeking to invite an experienced professional with in-depth knowledge of Steel Trading in Brazil and broader South America to take on a leadership role based out of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Role:

Senior Steel Trader & Chief Representative, South America

Purpose:

The Senior Steel Trader & Chief Representative shall be based in Sao Paulo and will be accountable to the International Managing Director (based in the European headquarters) with interactions with numerous other internal stakeholders.  He/She will develop new and manage existing customers and suppliers’ relationships within the Brazilian and broader South American marketplace as well as developing untapped business areas for expanding the Company’s business further.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Trading and Sales of steel, steel pipes and other related steel products in Brazil and the South American market
  • Establish and review contracts with customers and suppliers and show a business oriented mindset
  • Fundamental knowledge of supply chain, logistics and trade finance
  • Monitor and research markets and financial developments both locally and overseas
  • Develop both new customers and suppliers
  • Team player, able to communicate well with operation team, customers and suppliers
  • Provide after sales service to customers and where necessary liaise with both customers and suppliers to ensure the smooth running of the business.
  • Be prepared to travel regularly both locally and overseas to properly service the customer and supplier base

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Business/Commercial and/or other relevant discipline

Experience & Technical Competencies:

  • Strong trading (sales and purchase) experience in steel
  • Long standing customer and purchase relations in Brazil and South America
  • Proven track record in growing an organization to the next level
  • Strong network in the region
  • Multiple sales and purchase channels
  • Proven ability to develop new purchase and sales channels
  • Proven increase of trade volume / net worth over the last years
  • Risk awareness, experience in back to back trade, hedging etc
  • Ability to work in a multinational company framework
  • Budgeting, sales planning
